We all dreamed of being financially stable while also having a lot of free time for ourselves but this proved to be hard. We work hard every single day without achieving much or without our efforts being appreciated and worst of all we do not love what we do.

When we experience this we start to ponder on how to escape from this reality. We start to think of ways to better our current situation and coincidentally we heard a lot of stories from our friends or colleagues who work as a freelancer and from that we will be inspired to try and do the same.

But it is not that easy as what people tell us. How to start as a freelancer? Before we start we need to prepare and make sure that we really want to pursue this path in order for us to not regret it later.

What we need:

  1. Office space and materials

Before you start applying or working make sure you have your own little space in your house that you could make into your private office that is away from all the noises. You also need your laptop or computer, camera as well as making sure you have an internet connection with 10 or more Mbps. They say that having a corner in your house where you could do your work is enough, but I disagree. Because I believe that even if you are home, having a space that could be decorated or arranged as your personal office is much better because there is a tendency that you will feel lazy in your house.. The more the room feels like a professional office the more you are motivated to work.

2.Enroll in a Freelancing course

Doing it right away is okay. If you think you could go for it, you could. If you think you have the skills then go for it. But I will warn you, it will not be as easy as you think. Being a freelancer is different than working in a previous company or workplace. You need to have a certain skill set. You need to have a certain attitude to face those future clients. So, I encourage those who want to start being a freelancer that you enroll in those courses that offer skills that fit in the job description. Yes, it will cost you but not a lot. Yes, it will take time but not that much. You will lose nothing but will gain much. I recommend enrolling in the Filipino Virtual Assistant training course, for they offer a wide variety of skills that you could learn at an affordable price and would take a short time.

3. Confidence and the Right Attitude

This is the most important one. Confidence is important for you to deliver yourself to your clients properly, with the level of skills you have and the confidence you show, there is no doubt that you will be one of the best out there. Attitude is also important, for you will not be working alone, you could also be working in a team. No matter how long your experience is, no matter if you have all the skills a freelancer should have if you do not have the confidence and right attitude you will most likely have a hard time.

There is still a long way ahead of us, a lot to learn and a lot to experience. There is a lot to encounter during this new journey, we just have to prepare and brace ourselves. Most importantly let us not forget to thank Him for our everyday blessings
